Not sure what to expect after mixed reviews. Was not disappointed, the guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the prison. We had a great time using the detection equipment as well. Great activity inside of the new area with orb activity viewed on our phone and to the naked eye. Would definitely recommend a visit. If you’re just going there for ghost hunting you’ll be disappointed because that only happens twice during the two hour tour. But if you enjoy the history side then it’s great value for money. One suggestion would be to spend a bit longer in the new section and use a range of the detection equipment, but that’s my only suggestion.

Our guide was excellent. Really enjoyed reading the stories of individual prisoners on the cell walls! Lots of interesting facts and there’s no doubt it’s a legitimately spooky site… with last night’s wet and windy weather it was the perfect atmosphere 👌🏼 Would definitely recommend this tour!

It was ok, more like a tour . Have been on a few and thought it could have been directed more at the ghost side and more stories told

Alright. Leave your disbelief aside, the sheer depth of history of the Gaol, the ability to access and be guided through and deeply informed about this landmark area is amazing. Built from 1841, closed in 1988, is it haunted? Simply yes. I purposefully didn't research the Gaol before embarking on the tour, but as I reached the door to the 'new building', through the corridors and particularly the staircase, it was more than obvious it was indeed very much so. The energies were extraordinary, if attuned to them. The guides were a knowledgeable and personable team, leading us through the Gaol, gallow area, graves and Museum, encouraging spirit communication, without being tricky or coercive in asserting belief. So much information, compassion and historic recount, is worth the time and ticket price. The guides did take their time, no one was excluded. I would highly recommend this Tour to both locals and visitors alike. It is simply enjoyable, informative and if you reach out a little further, exhilarating to visit the 'other world'. Such a privilege.

Recommend avoiding this during daylight hours. Difficult to enjoy the experience with sun shining thru the gaol cells and live music in earshot next door. Tour guides were very informative but perhaps maybe build the experience up more prior to going in. If these tours could be scheduled for perhaps a later evening start or even better 11pm thru to 1am it would be an awesome event and really build up the suspense and haunting experience. This is a great tour with real life accounts and information relating to the prisoners whom were held in the gaol. It would be greatly improved with just a few tweaks like Midnight tours and few more ghostly recounts by staff.

I found the Adelaide gaol ghost tour and investigation to be excellent. The hosts were knowledgeable, easy going and also very inclusive of all participants as there were more than one disabled persons who attended.

Totally informative and creepy, a must do while in Adelaide! You get a chance to actually try and communicate w spirits and get a bit of a feeling of the horror these people had to live with daily.

Small group of 20, various ages and different levels of belief in ghosts from hard out sceptics to firm believers. Two guides did a great job of telling stories of the Gaol, the residents and those who were still around. We all experienced contact of different sorts, changes in temperature, reactions on the EMF and even noises on listening devices. The time flies by and the group is kept together - no man left behind. Highly recommend and would definitely check out other tours
